Wow I haven't posted on here in ages it seems... sorry about that! My main reasoning is most of my time looking at artwork, talking about cosplay, posting pictures of cosplay, posting photography and what not has been moved from DA to facebook and tumblr. I feel like that's similar for many people though... I will try to post some photography... soonish?
- School: Only 1.5 semesters left! Wow has time gone by... I guess? It's been rough, very rough, and I will be happy to be done with it. I'm applying for a few programs from after school, mainly fellowships and other work programs within my field. So I'll HOPEFULLY be off to DC or Japan once I graduate! *fingers crossed*
- Okay here are the big ones: For starters I realize now I never posted about Tora Con- Great as usual. Spent most of it with my dear friend Darcy Reiko, who was Hiccup from How to Train Your Dragon. We had a ton of fun just posing for pictures and goofing off. Bought of some stuffs but otherwise nothing major, just us having a good ol' time at our hometown convention
- Otakon- I never ended up going. It's kind of a long story but in summary: An issue came up between myself and the person who would be paying for me to go/taking me with them... the situation made me feel uncomfortable and get the feeling that there would be no fun to be had if we went together, so I called it off. I go to cons for fun. I cosplay for fun. I don't do it as a perfectionist thing. Do I want to be perfect with my cosplay? Yes sure. Do I love getting people asking me photos? Definitely! But that's not why I go. I go to have fun with friends, meet great people and just enjoy myself *cough* and spend tons of money *cough*. I don't go to deal with drama, or feel guilty for things that are outside of my power.
- NYCC- I did end up going for Saturday this past weekend! Oh my god did I have fun! I have never been to such a large convention before and it was such a blast! I went as Jack Frost and was blown away by the compliments I got, the number of people who asked for photos and the reactions even children had! I didn't take any pictures with kids, but several saw me walk by and would smile really big and go "Jack Frost!" I was so happy to see that! And a brother and sister saw me and tugged on their mom going "Look mom! It's Jack Frost!"
It was a lot of fun! I ended up going with two friends from school, though neither were in cosplay. We had to take a train from school to NYC, which was interesting to do in cosplay, and to just in general walk in the city as Jack Frost XD.
I ended up actually not spending too much money and mainly just walked around, talking with people and having a great time! I hope to go again next year if I can. But now that people at my school know I cosplay, I've gotten some asking to try to go to cons with them... not sure what I'll be able to do, money is tight now, but I know of a few cons.... I was wanting to try to go to Anime North in the Spring, but it looks like it is going to take place ON THE DAY I GRADUATE
AND I HAVE A PASSPORT NOW TOO!!!
Well that's about all I have to update on... I want to think of more cosplays to do in the near future though! So any ideas please let me know! I've kinda gotten out of watching anime/reading manga, so I wanna see more about video games or Disney/Dreamworks/movie characters cause that is more of what I am into now
How are all of you fine people doing? Anything new or fun?
